| The incumbent will contribute to the organization by providing high standards of emergency medical care to patients that involves advanced cardiac life support, trauma care such as fractures and soft tissue injuries, and management of other life-threatening situations in accordance with the PHCC guidelines and protocols. |
Detailed Description
- Recognize and manage emergency cases, resuscitate and stabilize as per patient condition and in line with PHCC guidelines and protocols act as a lead clinical service provider (where appropriate).
- Instant planning and providing of appropriate emergency care to the patients.
- Performs a thorough physical and mental state assessment and examination, where appropriate.
- Discuss with patient/carer the need and appropriateness of complex investigation and gain consent.
- Provide additional services or enhanced services to the patient within the post holder’s clinical competence and scope of practice.
- Refer patients appropriately to other specialties in PHCC or to other providers if their need exceeds the range or specialism of services provided in PHCC.
- Performs on-call duties as assigned.
- Prescribe medication and/or administer treatment/therapy to treat or prevent illness, disease or injury.
- Adhere to the principles of safe prescribing, utilize PHCC’s electronic prescribing system and tools, discuss with patient the multiple options available and keep accurate record of medication prescribed.
- Recognize cultural, religious, disability, gender issues, communication style, content and language when communication with patients and staff
- Articulate complex issues in a simple and understandable manner
- Support health center manager and regional director in providing appropriate liaison and communication regarding healthcare matters and act as a lead spokesperson for the organization when required
- Practice as per PHCC’s policies and procedures regarding quality, safety and infection control.
- Undertake any appropriate duties or responsibilities (as directed) regarding the development of QI, Safety, and IC requirements, and similar programs.
- Support health center manager in responding to complaints, incidents and take part in local investigations when required
- Maintain professional knowledge and standards through continuing medical education and personal professional development
- Maintain clinical competences and exercise awareness of professional responsibilities by reading current relevant literature and clinical research
- Participate in annual appraisal. Act as a resource for colleagues regarding appraisal and support the management in further development of the system
- Guide all medical and clinical staff and provide adequate and appropriate supervision and mentoring wherever required.
- Participate in teaching and training of doctors and other healthcare professionals.
- Involve in the development of training programs and CPDs for the profession.
Job Requirements
- Primary medical degree from a recognized medical school.
- Board certification or equivalent in Emergency Medicine or a related stream
- The qualifications must be in line with the list of approved qualifications from DHP
- ILS, PLS and BLSO course Certificate.
- DHP Specialist License
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a medical doctor.
- In addition to 3 to 7 years as work experience after the recognized specialty qualification. The variance in range is based on the qualification list from Department of Healthcare Professions.
